Hello!
I was quite honored and excited when Liesl asked me to join her on this food-blog quest -- photography has been a passion of mine for the better part of a decade, and, while I like the story-telling of portraiture, food photography has long been the area that gets my heart racing. What started out as a documentation of food that I'd consumed and memorable meals that I'd eaten became something more -- it evolved into something that I could explore.
Not only that, but I've known Liesl since 1996, when we started attending the same middle school. There were many late-night conversations and lots of memories made. It was my pleasure to photograph her engagement session last spring and my esteemed honor to photograph her wedding last fall. So, this food blog is both a passion and a pleasure! :)
Let me take care of some housekeeping stuff right now: yes, it says "omnivore" at the top of some of the pages. Yes, that means I eat meat. Please, hold off on any rant that you may want to bestow upon me for just a second and let me explain. In mid-August 2014, I made a decision to become a vegetarian, for many reasons. I have started to wean meat out of my diet -- I plan on eating what I have in the cupboard and not replenishing my stores. That stands for commercially raised meat, anyway: meat that isn't from cruel environs is free game.
One random fact about me is that I like random-fact lists. Here are other random facts about me:
-I have a dog named Bailey. She's a Bernese Mountain Dog mix, and, while I love the Berner part of her, I am grateful for whatever she's mixed with -- her 46-lb frame is the perfect size if and when I ever need to carry her.
-Sweet tea and sunshine make me smile, but I'm not a Southern girl -- I was born and raised in Colorado.
-I have a slight Pinterest addiction. (If >52,000 pins can be called "slight.") =D
-My "real" job is being an administrative assistant on a college campus, but I've dreamed of being everything from an entrepreneur to a movie star, from a behavior analyst to an archaeologist, to a stay-at-home mom. But let's not put the babies before the bump!
-...which brings me to Jacob. He and I started dating 10-11-06 and I haven't looked back since.
